Behind Erykah Badu's Controversial New Video, 'Window Seat'

Did any of you post a naked video of yourself over the weekend? Erykah Badu did, but it's not what you think. If you haven't seen 'Window Seat' yet, visit www.erykahbadu.com and take a look (NSFW! Wait until you get home!).

The YouTube versions have been blocked, so unfortunately we can't embed it here.

In the video, Erykah Badu takes off her clothes as she walks along a Dallas, Texas, sidewalk until she is naked and then falls near where President Kennedy was assassinated.

According to CNN, Badu shot the controversial piece on March 17 and it was done "shot guerrilla style" with no crew.

After 'Window Seat' premiered on Saturday, fans and critics took to the web and Twitter to debate Badu's decision to undress in front of minors who were playing near the shoot. Over the weekend, Badu tweeted "there were children there. i prayed they wouldnt b traumatized."

Responses have ranged from "nudity in front of the kids is no big deal" to "the only reason she did this was for publicity, ridiculous and shameful."

The R&B singer said she was making a statement against "groupthink," which she tweeted was an "unwritten rule" that "i will not express my true opinion if it opposes those i love and fear." She also tweteed that she was "too busy lookin for cops" to be embarrassed by her nudity. "i been naked all along in my words actions and deeds. thats the real vulnerable place," Badu explained.

Badu's new LP, New Amerykah Part Two: Return of the Ankh, was released on March 30th.
